Since 1980, Hercules
has enjoyed a special sister
city relationship with the people of Tsushima, Japan. The City of
Tsushima
officially adopted the seal at left in September 1981, as the symbol of
this sister city relationship. The seal consists of the designs of
"Kuromatu"
(black pinetree) as a city tree, and "Fugi" (wisteria) as a city
flower,
against the blue background that symbolizes the Tennoh River in
Tsushima
City.
Each year, members of the Hercules Sister
City Association (HSCA) welcome
officials, citizens and students from Tsushima. The HSCA provides tours
of Hercules, visits to area schools and nearby attractions and host
families
as necessary.

| Beginning in 1998, HSCA
started recruiting, selecting and
preparing Hercules Youth Ambassadors to represent Hercules on a trip to
Tsushima. Here is an application to
become a Youth Ambassador.
The HSCA invites all interested Hercules
residents to join us at one
of our monthly HSCA meetings and asks everyone to support our Youth
Ambassadors
in their fundraising efforts.
Please view the Tsushima City Guide DVD
playing on the Hercules Community TV, channel 28. Check listings for
